For over a decade I worked in the not-for-profit sector. I learned a lot about the frustrations of the building process from the owner's standpoint.  This process can become expensive and drawn out. This was the typical road map we encountered: 

 

1. Talk to the architect. 

2. Wait months for a design.  

3. Get bids from builders

4. Discover that the design is out of budget. 

5. Pay the architect to scale back the design. 

6. Resend the design back out for a quote. 

7. Builder - Architect disconnect. 

8. More money spent. 

9. More frustrations.  

 

Once I left the not-for-profit world, I began doing construction management and saw things from that perspective.  Again, projects took way too long as we waited to hear back from architects.  There had to be an easier way.  Out of necessity to expedite the building process for our clients, and my personal love of the design process, I began to offer design services. 

 

Solution Discovered.

 

That changed everything and sped up the process. I came to realize I enjoy walking clients through the whole building process. This is the reason I started Benjamin Design-Build, an Indiana Contractor Company focused on residential home renovation.  I believe this is a simple & superior way to build.
